Underground Power Conversion – Trenching & Cable Installation

This project involved the replacement of 500 metres of existing overhead power lines with a new underground power supply system. The work was carried out across a rural property to improve safety, reliability, and visual amenity.

Scope of Work:

  • Mechanical trenching of a 500m route across farmland and rural driveways using a compact tracked trencher.

  • Precision cutting and earthworks to create a consistent trench suitable for conduit and cable laying.

  • Installation of orange electrical conduit to house new power cabling.

  • Cable hauling conducted using powered winch reels and guided rollers to ensure tension control and safety.

  • Final stages included backfilling the trench and compacting the soil to restore ground stability while maintaining access.

Outcome:
The successful undergrounding of the existing power system eliminates the need for overhead lines, reducing exposure to weather damage and enhancing property aesthetics. The works were completed efficiently with minimal disruption to the surrounding land and existing infrastructure.
